Trinity Lotto!

In a hypothetical situation, you have 3 super-spiritual Christians that are claiming the promises of God that they prosper and win the lotto. Which one should win if they are all claiming the same promises? Does the prize go to the most spiritual one and how does God make that choice without being a respecter of people?

I would love to hear any and all thoughts on this!

i think the answer is none of the above...

the phrase "super-spiritual" implies, i think, as seen by others or as seen by themselves, and doesn't really mean anything to God

i also think the expression of their desire betrays the true state of their heart regarding God and money

and i think, no matter what their rationale about building ministry or serving God or glorifying him before men as a result of the lotto win, God doesn't need them to have the money to accomplish those things, or has a means of providing for them that causes them to rely upon him and not on some huge stash of cash to draw from...how long until their heart is taking care of the money (as good stewards, of course) instead of seeking after God

so, of course i have projected myself into this scenario, and i probably seem cynical, but these are my thoughts, however crude they may be...if i claim a promise of God in order to gain mammon the making of the claim should show me my real need is more love for God

Great comment Ben! Great on all points! Did you know folks actually do that? Claim odd things in the name of Jesus? Funky, eh? God wants their hearts not their ability to quote scriptural promises for their gain and not his glory.

Thanks for commenting!
